Town Board meeting called to order at 7:00pm

 

  1. Minutes: 6/5/2023

1.1   Motion made by Rick Barton to accept the 6/5/2023 Minutes as presented.

1.2   Seconded by Randal Oaks and approved.

  1. Treasurer’s Report: 6/30/2023

2.1   Motion made by Rick Barton to accept the Treasurer’s & Budget Report for 6/30/2023 as presented.

2.2   Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

  1. Checks: 12078 – 12119

3.1   Motion made by Rick Barton to approve checks 12078 – 12119 with exception of void checks 12102 & 12114. Check 12105 Election Authority should be 12108.

3.2   Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

  1. Collector’s Report:

4.1   CK1005 $500 Conditional Uae Permit Application Fee 5572 Chestnut Hanani House.

  1. Public Works:

5.1   Water has been turned off at the Ball field due to a leak that needs to be fixed.

5.2   Post Office floor in need of repair.

5.3   Motion made by Rick Barton to approve $5000 for street Control line striping.

5.4   Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

5.5   Motion made by Rick Barton to approve $2000 for weed control in Town by Town & Country Nursery.

5.6   Seconded by Randal Oak and approved.

 

Committee Reports:

  1. Zoning and Planning:

6.1   Town Board suggest sending a Notice of 30  days to Hoffman Companies for unpermitted signs at the Hostel & Kickstand to remove the signs.

6.2   A Public Hearing was held on 6/27 for Conditional Use Permit Application at 5572 Chestnut. Zoning Commission recommends Denial of Application 2023-04 at 5572 Chestnut for various reasons.

6.3   Motion made by Rick Barton to Deny Conditional Use Permit Application2023-04 at 5572 Chestnut.

6.4   Seconded by Randal Oaks with 5 Trustees voting 4 aye and 1 nay vote. Ayes have it and approved.

6.5   Motion made by Rick Barton to approve sign Permit 2023-04 at 5549 Main St.

6.6   Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

6.7   Motion made by Rick Barton to accpt Appointment of Dace Schrader to the Board of Adjustments for Term 2023 to 2028.

6.8 Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

  1. Chamber of Commerce:

        7.1   Harvest Festival Sep 15th with ‘Swingin’ in the Vines.

7.2   Harvest Festival Sep 16th Harvest Parade.

  1. Parks Committee: no report

  5. Open to Citizens:

12.1 Discussion on Ball field repair, cleanup and usage of water and Usage of Lights and Electricity. They are wanting to schedule Community Ball game events.

14.1 Introducing Bill for Annexation of Property on Hackman for Mike & Vicki Gwinn read by Title only,

14.2 Clerk assigns Bill 2023-10.

14.3 Bill 2023-10 2nd reading by Title only.

14.4 Motion made by Rick Barton to accept Bill 2023-10 as Ordinance 2023-10.

14.5 Seconded by Randal Oaks and approved.

14.6 Introducing Bill for Conditional Use Permit read by Title only.

14.7 Clerk assigns Bill 2023-11.

14.8 Bill 2023-11 read 2nd time by Title only.

14.9 Motion made to accept Bill 2023-11 as Ordinance 2023-11.

14.10 Seconded by Randal Oaks and approved.

  1. Other Reports:

15.1 Motion made by Rick Barton approving the Chamber of Commerce to move forward to purchase playground equipment.

15.2 Seconded by Randal Oaks and approved.

Town of Augusta website report

Town events are being posted on the Events page.  The Sunday evening ball games are gaining popularity.  An article is in the July Boone Country Connection about the revival of ball games on the Ballfield. Everything else is about the same.

 

“Best of Augusta” Photo Contest report

The photo contest schedule for the fall is September–Adult/Teen contest with a focus on the Augusta Harvest Festival.  There will be a booth in the Town Square for entering the contest.  Entry forms will be available and printing of the photos will also be available for a nominal convenience fee.  All can be turned in for the September 30 deadline.

October will be the Kids’ “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest in conjunction with Augusta Elementary School.  This will give a little more time for entries to be assembled and turned in.
