        1.1   Motion made by to accept the 9/9/2024 Minutes as presented.

        2.1   Motion made by Rick Barton to accept the Treasurer’s and Budget report for 9/30/2024 as presented.

        5.1   Motion made by Rick Barton to approve $1000 for asphalt purchase.

        5.5   Post Office parking concern brought to the Town Boards attention that needs to be addressed.

6.     Zoning and Planning:

        6.1   L.U.P L2024-05 295 Lower St pavilion.

        6.2   High St drain issue at Mt Pleasant issue again that needs to be addressed.

7.     Chamber of Commerce:

        7.1   Update was given on the Christmas Walk.

        7.2   Motion made by Rick Barton to approve the street closure request for the Christmas Walk on Dec 6th & 13th. With the contingent of proper signage placement per submitted layout.

        7.3   Seconded by Ellen Knoernschild and approved

8.     Farm Report: No Report

9.     Museum Report:

        9.1   On October 10th the Museum will be working in the attic.

        9.2   On October 8th the “Tell It Like It Was” will be hosted by Fred Dressel.

10.   Tree Committee Report: No Report

11.   Old Business:

        11.1 Motion made by Rick Barton to approve, contingent upon MODOT concurrence, to accept the bid as presented by KJU Construction in the amount of $834,800 for the proposed sidewalk construction project.

        11.2 Seconded by Ellen Knoernschild and approved.

        13.1 Pastor Sara Adler Dahlheimier gave updates for Ebenezer UCC Church.

        13.2 Chili Beef Dinner on Oct 20th from 11am-5:30pm

I am searching for a person familiar with Word Press to assist me with redesigning the town website.  

 “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest — The September contest is over.  Winners will be announced later this week on the town website and photos will be placed in the Augusta Library and at Augusta Winery.

The KIDS’ “BEST OF AUGUSTA” PHOTO CONTEST is going well.  Mrs. Sarah Bayless will be taking Augusta Elementary students on photo taking field trips.  ALL kids, 12 and under, are invited to enter the contest.  The main focus is photos about autumn.  All other photos will also be accepted.

Colors of autumn!  Harvest time!  Apple picking!  Pumpkins and gourds!  Fresh produce!  Mums! And so many other fall scenes from which to choose.  Then there are the activities:  sharing a glass of wine, or a mug of beer; riding a bicycle on the Katy Trail; roaming the quaint, peaceful Town of Augusta;  shopping at local stores; checking out the Augusta Harvest Festival the weekend of September 20-21; and whatever else catches your eye.

Take memorable photos to cherish the moments!  Composition quality is as important as picture clarity.  One standout distinction for an excellent photograph is whether or not someone desires to take a second glance, or a third.  Enter the best one from your collection of memories into the “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest.  Shoot pictures in the town limits of Augusta.  Tell a story.

TOWN POSTCARDS

Postcards are at the printers.  There will be 4 prints available at the Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 21.  They will be sold with a special 4-pack  price including one of each of the 4 designs.  Additional individual postcards will also be available.  After their initial debut, the postcards will be sold at the Wandering Owl during regular weekend hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Come and check out the various postcards.

Once upon a time, postcards were last sold in Augusta in the 1970’s.  It’s time for sales once again.

5.4   2 delays on the sidewalk repair due to the weather but the repairs have been completed.

5.5   Storm drain issue fixed at River Bluff Ct.

6.6   Levy Bridge repaired for a cost of $1000 for the rock.

6.7   Railroad Street drain repair to be done by St Charles County water district at no charge.

A team of advisors will make the selections for the final 4.  The postcards’ debut will be at the Harvest Festival on September 21.

Further announcements will be made at the September town board meeting and the GACC meetings; and on Augusta social media sites, Facebook posts, and  the Town website.  Let’s talk about the upcoming Augusta postcards to those we normally converse with. We want the Town of Augusta presented to the world, or at least the local St. Louis area and visitors, as the special place that we all know and love.

“BEST OF AUGUSTA” PHOTO CONTEST FOR SEPTEMBER for Adults and Teens

This will focus on fall scenes and events, especially the Harvest Festival September 20-21.  The BCC has an article in the August issue about the contest.  The September issue will also contain a press release.  One prize includes a gift certificate from Augusta Winery for a guided tasting party of their award-winning wines for up to 10 people with a specially curated charcuterie board and a 90 minute session with a designated wine steward.  The other prize is a $25.00 cash/check from the Town Board.  Get your cameras out for the opportunity to win one of these prizes.       The Kids 12 & under “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest will be held once again in October.
