Town Board meeting called to order at 6:30pm

 

  1. Minutes: 7/1/2024

1.1   Motion made by Rick Barton to approve the 7/1/2024 Minutes w/corrections to be made as presented.

1.2   Seconded by Ellen Knoernschild and approved.

  1. Treasurer’s and Budget Report: 7/31/2024

2.1   Motion made by Rick Barton to accept the Treasurer’s and Budget Report for 7/31/2024 as presented.

2.2   Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

3.1   Motion made by Rick Barton to approve checks 12556 – 12589 with the exception of voided check 12572 as written.

  1. Public Works:

5.1   Town Park update rescheduled for 8/12 to start the trenching and electric. Permits are in order with St Charles County.

5.2   Hopefully we will have the Gazebo by the Harvest Festival but not guaranteed it will be finished do to other circumstances.

5.3   Volunteers need for Gazebo installation.

5.4   2 delays on the sidewalk repair due to the weather but the repairs have been completed.

5.5   Storm drain issue fixed at River Bluff Ct.

6.6   Levy Bridge repaired for a cost of $1000 for the rock.

6.7   Railroad Street drain repair to be done by St Charles County water district at no charge.

6.8   Motion made by Rick Barton to approve up to $1000 for the Levy repair at Public St.

6.9   Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

A team of advisors will make the selections for the final 4.  The postcards’ debut will be at the Harvest Festival on September 21.

Any suggestions for information written on the back side of the photo?

Further announcements will be made at the September town board meeting and the GACC meetings; and on Augusta social media sites, Facebook posts, and  the Town website.  Let’s talk about the upcoming Augusta postcards to those we normally converse with. We want the Town of Augusta presented to the world, or at least the local St. Louis area and visitors, as the special place that we all know and love.

“BEST OF AUGUSTA” PHOTO CONTEST FOR SEPTEMBER for Adults and Teens

This will focus on fall scenes and events, especially the Harvest Festival September 20-21.  The BCC has an article in the August issue about the contest.  The September issue will also contain a press release.  One prize includes a gift certificate from Augusta Winery for a guided tasting party of their award-winning wines for up to 10 people with a specially curated charcuterie board and a 90 minute session with a designated wine steward.  The other prize is a $25.00 cash/check from the Town Board.  Get your cameras out for the opportunity to win one of these prizes.       The Kids 12 & under “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest will be held once again in October.

Postcard photo entries final deadline is July 31.

September contest focusing on the Augusta Harvest Festival on September 21 and all things autumn with scenery and activities deadline is the last day of the month.

October contest for kids 12 & under focuses on fall people, places, and things in Augusta.  Deadline is October 31.

Town of Augusta website report

Is the Events page on the website being viewed?  Or is social media the choice of upcoming events?  How do you get your event information?  Taking an informal survey.  Is some way to track the number of views that the Events page receives?

Still working on updates to the website.

5.6   Motion was made by Rick Barton to approve an additional $700 for concrete repair at Lower & Walnut.

6.1   C.U.P at 5340 Hackman Rd for installing an above ground swimming pool. Zoning meeting for C.U.P will be held on June 19, 2024.

12.7 Request from Mt Pleasant Winery to use the Town Park for a Hot Air Balloon event. Discussion by the Town Board of Augusta recommended not to grant this request.

        13.1 Ginny Messei presented (M.U.D) Major Unexpected Disaster Plan with designated Station illustration. Town Board suggested having a Representative come to a Board Meeting for further discussion.

14.1″Best of Augusta” Photo Contest

Congratulations to our two winners in the Spring Photo Contest.

FIRST PLACE is Liam Esarey from Chesterfield, MO with a photo titled “Welcome to Augusta.”  He received the $25.00 cash by check from the Town Board.

RUNNER UP is Ellie Hopen of Augusta, MO with the photo titled “Hello Augusta!”  She received the $25.00 gift certificate donated by Halcyon Spa.

The winning photos are on display in the Augusta Library and will be in the June Boone Country Connection.

Postcard photo entries are continuing to be accepted until July 31.
