Town Board meeting called to order at 6:30pm

  1. Minutes: 5/6/2024

1.1   Motion made by Rick Barton to accept the 5/6/2024 Minutes as presented.

1.2   Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

  1. Treasurer’s and Budget Report: 5/31/2024

2.1   Motion made by Rick Barton to accept the Treasurer’s and Budget report for 5/31/2024 a presented.

2.2   Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

  1. Checks: 12485 – 12515

3.1   Motion made by Rick Barton to approve checks 12485 – 12515 as written.

3.2   Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

  1. Collector’s Report:

4.1   Eff  5-15-24 $3.75 April Collections

4.2   Ck 42722754 $250 STR & Bus Lic for Samantha Bina.

4.3   Ck 1071 $500 C.U.P Don & Rhonda Cline at 5340 Hackman Rd.

  1. Public Works:

5.1   Handicap parking space striped in front of the Post Office by Randal Oaks. Thank you Randal.

5.2   Request from the Post Office for gutter guards.

5.3   Gazebo design was discussed and illustrations presented by Randal Oaks.

5.4   Motion was made by Rick Barton to approve $32,963 quote 41040 Dated 5/30/2024 with Amish Country Gazebo.

5.5   Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

5.6   Motion was made by Rick Barton to approve an additional $700 for concrete repair at Lower & Walnut.

5.7   Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

Committee Reports:

  1. Zoning and Planning:

6.1   C.U.P at 5340 Hackman Rd for installing an above ground swimming pool. Zoning meeting for C.U.P will be held on June 19, 2024.

  1. Chamber of Commerce:

        7.1   AVA Celebration Tailgate Thursday

        7.2   Harvest Festival Planning underway for September 21, 2024.

        7.3   Chamber meeting June 17, 2024.

        7.4   Swingin’ In the Vine September 20, 2024.

  1. Farm Report: No Report
  2. Museum Report:

9.1   One shutter is missing and needs to be replaced.

9.2   55-75 citizens attended the Peoples Festival with a good turn out.

  1. Tree Committee Report: No Report
  2. Old Business:

11.1 Bid’s for the sidewalk grant should be in the next few weeks.

  1. New Business:

12.1 Annexation of 59 Acres to the Town of Augusta from Greg Casper.

12.2 Bill read by Title only in the 1st reading.

12.3 Clerk assigned Bill number 2024-05.

12.4 Bill 2024-05 read 2nd time by Title Only.

12.5 Motion made by Rick Barton to accept Bill 2024-05 as Ordinance 2024-05.

12.6 Seconded by Laura Miller and approved.

12.7 Request from Mt Pleasant Winery to use the Town Park for a Hot Air Balloon event. Discussion by the Town Board of Augusta recommended not to grant this request.

  1. Open to Citizens:

        13.1 Ginny Messei presented (M.U.D) Major Unexpected Disaster Plan with designated Station illustration. Town Board suggested having a Representative come to a Board Meeting for further discussion.

  1. Gay Eskew Report:

14.1″Best of Augusta” Photo Contest

Congratulations to our two winners in the Spring Photo Contest.

FIRST PLACE is Liam Esarey from Chesterfield, MO with a photo titled “Welcome to Augusta.”  He received the $25.00 cash by check from the Town Board.

RUNNER UP is Ellie Hopen of Augusta, MO with the photo titled “Hello Augusta!”  She received the $25.00 gift certificate donated by Halcyon Spa.

The winning photos are on display in the Augusta Library and will be in the June Boone Country Connection.

Postcard photo entries are continuing to be accepted until July 31.
